Who you would be talking to

About Promise

You should know something about the person before you tell them anything about yourself. So, briefly.

Promise Igba, therapist and founder of The Listening Room

Promise Igba holds a Master of Social Work and is a member of the Australian Association of Social Workers, with five years of experience. He works with individuals and with couples, in person in Canberra and online.

Sessions are shaped around what you bring rather than a fixed programme. In practice that means drawing on whichever approach fits, and saying so plainly when something else would serve you better.

He is working toward Accredited Mental Health Social Worker status. When that comes through it will open up Medicare rebates, and this site will say so on the day it does.

The room

If you are coming in person, this is where you would be sitting. Nothing fancy. Two chairs, a window, and a box of tissues that gets used.

The counselling room at The Listening Room in Curtin: two soft armchairs facing each other, a small table with a box of tissues, a window, and a framed painting on the wall.
